The punter back

The much hyped Ind-Aus test series started in a stunning fashion on a batsman friendly pitch in M chinnaswamy stadium at Bengaluru. Zaheer khan provided the earlier breakthrough for India by removing Hayden in the 3rd ball of the innings. In comes the underpressure australian captain who averages below 13 in India. In the next over the struggle started for him in the form of Ishanth sharma who got under his skin and removed or troubled him throughout the Australia-India test series in Australia earlier this series. He troubled Ponting a lot in that spell.
The well determined Ponting didn't get his head down. He played with positive intend and worked the ball all along the ground. Didn't play too many shots earlier or shots on the up, just played it late and streching well forward for ball that is coming in before he is leaving it. The technique worked for him and he survived to Ishant's incoming deliveries. He didn't bother about playing spin, he played it with ease. His old friend Harbhajan(got him out consistently about 9times) didn't bother him at all. In the end it was Harbhajan who got his wicket, but by that time he did what he wanted to do. He would have given out for an LBW or caught and bowl appeal in Kumble's bowling but laddy luck in his side.
That is determination and composer of well deserved hundred. This is a perfect example of leading from the front, holding relatively inexperienced australian team together. The world class player showed everyone that he can play at any condition and didn't deserve the bad record in India against his name. He proved everyone he can change his game according to the situation. He might have impressed the underpressure fab-4 ;). Lets hope that India will keep Ponting underpressure at least for the reminder of the series, otherwise it will be difficult for them to stop Australia mammoth totals.
